Nantong
has an active nightlife every night of the week no matter what
the weather is. English speaking foreigners meet at many
different places for conversations, pool games, listening to
music and meeting both local and other foreigners. Nantong
is a gracious host to many different nationalities - American, Australian,
British, Finnish, French, German, Indonesians, Japanese, Malaysians,
Norwegian, Romanian, among other nationalities.
There are a
number of different bars and pubs which cater to both foreigners
and Chinese in Nantong. They offer pool, karaoke, bar
games, places for intimate conversations and both inside and
outside venues. Some bars offer drink specials or free
food at various times. Most bars have English speaking
staff, though some are not fluent. Always remember to
speak slowly for the best results in being understood.

While most restaurants in Nantong are Chinese, there are also a
number of Western style and different Asian cuisine restaurants
in centrally located areas. A large number of restaurants
have both English and Chinese menus, but that may not always be
the case. Prices for meals vary and there is no "average"
price as many restaurants have specialized menus. Most
Chinese restaurants meals are large enough for two people as
meal sharing is common in China. Individual item prices
usually begin around 10 to 20 RMB.
