Welcome to Nantong and China.  When visiting China, please remember that you are a guest in this country.  The way things are back home may not be the same as they are here in Nantong or China.  Compared to what you may have read or heard in your home country, China is not what it has been portrayed to be.  It is neither restrictive nor a "police state."  In fact, it is rare that you will even see a police man wearing guns and all the other "social order tools" you have become accustomed to in other Western countries.

China and the Chinese people are very accommodating to their foreign guests.  Please use basic common sense in your dealings with the locals during your visit.  Unless you are extremely fluent in Chinese and the local dialects, please take a deep breath and pause before getting angry because of communication problems.  It can be frustrating, but patience will generally solve most problems.

Just like you have rules in your home when visitors come to visit, Nantong and China have rules that they expect you to follow and observe.  Failure to follow basic rules can involve fines and possible deportation.  Make your stay in Nantong enjoyable by following the rules that have been promulgated by the Chinese government.
